Who is Eva Marsden?

When the N.D.G. Senior Citizens’ Council was rebranded in 2021 it seemed fitting that it should be named in honour of someone who represented the values, philosophy and culture of the organization as it was created in its’ early days.  The Eva Marsden Centre was named after one of our early members who was a strong advocate for the rights of older adults.  She was particularly concerned for older women who at the time experienced even greater levels of poverty in later life due to lack of participation in the paid workforce.   As a member of Zonta International she supported girls and young women who wished to pursue academic and professional goals but lacked the financial means.

Eva Marsden was a true ambassador of the NDGSCC and subsequent benefactor to the organization upon her death in 1997.  For over twenty years we have been pleased to present the Eva Marsden Award for Outstanding Volunteer Contribution to individuals who have played significant roles in supporting our programs as well as our Board of Directors.   We are honoured to continue the legacy of this dedicated advocate and humanitarian.
